Anastasia Ax (b.1979, SE) is arguably one of Sweden’s most important performance artists. Her body is utilized as vehicle and tool during her impactful performances which oftentimes result in colossal installations made up of the material aftermath. Other times the materials are developed off-site into separate sculptural objects. Her performance work sees her navigating vast bodies of intrinsically harmless materials such as paper, plaster and paint and transforming them through action into new formations and signifiers. Her work deals with ideas of transformation in both the physical and spiritual sense.
